Project Manager/Portfolio Lead

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Project Manager/Portfolio Lead to join our team at a fast-paced IT Professional Technology Organization (PTO).

As a Project Manager, you will lead a variety of client-facing and internal IT projects, including infrastructure deployments, cloud migrations, security enhancements, and service rollouts. You’ll collaborate closely with clients, engineers, and account teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client expectations.

As a Portfolio Lead, you will work closely with executive leadership and department heads to ensure visibility, governance, and control across all projects. Your role will be crucial in driving consistency, transparency, and value from the organization’s investments in projects and programs.

Key Responsibilities Project Manager:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee IT projects for multiple clients, from kickoff to completion.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with technical teams and clients.
  • Create and manage project timelines, resource assignments, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Along with the Technical Account Manager and Director of Operations, act as a point of contact for clients during the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate project meetings, status updates, and stakeholder communications.
  • Track progress using project management tools and ensure documentation is up to date.
  • Manage project changes and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Work closely with service desk, engineering, and account management teams to align technical delivery with business goals.

Key Responsibilities Portfolio Lead:

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Prioritize projects based on business value, risk, resource availability, and dependencies.
  • Monitor project performance and provide executive-level reporting on portfolio health.
  • Establish and enforce portfolio governance processes, standards, and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess new project proposals and facilitate intake and approval processes.
  • Support resource planning and capacity management across all projects.
  • Identify risks, conflicts, and interdependencies within the portfolio and drive resolution strategies.
  • Lead periodic portfolio reviews with key stakeholders to guide decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Experience in an MSP, VAR, or IT services environment a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid).
  • PMP, CAPM, or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent client projects in a service-based business.
  • Familiarity with ticketing and PSA tools such as ConnectWise, Autotask, or ServiceNow.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage technical discussions and translate between clients and engineers.

Compensation:

  • 90K – 125K DOE
